Giving Back to the Greater Atlanta Community

One of the ways that we give back to the Greater Atlanta community in which we serve, is to donate time and computer equipment to non-profit organizations. Many times a few hours with a professional technician from Red Diamond can completely change the ability of a staff to be productive.

An example of how we can help is a recently completed project with The Frazer Center which has been serving children and adults with disabilities in metro Atlanta for over 60 years.

What The Frazer Center management was looking for was a way to manage a Client / Server network that allowed for a level of self-sufficiency in order to contain costs. After reviewing the needs and goals of the users and administrator, Red Diamond came up with a plan that provides a step by step process to achieve them working within a budget.

With some donated and reduced-fee labor hours we were able to bring the network up to the level where in-house management was possible. All PCs had been fully updated, protected by antivirus and antispyware, had the pc names, logins and passwords brought to a standard naming convention. At this point it was much easier to tackle individual user issues to bring about a complete solution.

Documentation was a key to the success of this project. Not only in terms of providing written and digital descriptions of the work performed but also in terms of living documents residing on the server. These documents cover the procedures of the common functions to the network administration tailored to The Frazer Center's network.

The example below not only features specific step by step instructions but also has graphics to go along so a novice user has confidence in doing the task at hand.
